We offer a 3 or 6-day waterfowl hunt. We run 1 group of 6-8 hunters at a time. This allows for ample shooting for each hunter and allows us to have more quality shoots and reach bag limits more often on geese and ducks.

Every hunter is entitled to a 2 day bag limit which is 16 geese, 16 ducks and 60 snow geese. We can gift birds away so we always hunt the full 3 days mornings and evenings.

We are very fortunate that we have the North Saskatchewan River right next to us that holds the waterfowl until freeze up. So even on a dry year we always have the river to keep us in birds.

We usually target geese in the mornings, but we will also shoot some ducks when the opportunity presents itself. The afternoon hunt is less demanding as we only put out 1/4 of the spread of decoys in the field for ducks. We do our duck hunts in a field with final approach blinds where we retrieve 100% of the birds. By doing this we keep the birds in the area for the full season.

We transport all equipment in an enclosed trailer. The equipment we use is full bodied decoys and a mixture of different sized shells. I have 2 sets of final approach blinds 1 for wheat or barley stubble and 1 for pea fields.

Experienced spotters are the key to successful hunts and I have two. They live in the area and keep in close, personal contact with the land owners. They know where the peas are being planted and make sure that we have the same land access or more each year.

Our lodge boosts all the amenities of home. Your accommodations include 2 hunters per room with 5 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. We also have full cell phone coverage, wireless internet, and satellite TV. In the evenings, we also have plenty of room to socialize.

I think the waterfowl hunt is the most enjoyable hunt with friends and family and we here strive to make it the best holiday possible. Read the testimonials on my website and call the references to see how we look after our clients.

Maverick Waterfowlers have been in the Waterfowl hunting business for over 20 years. We run a highly successful outfitting operation hunting both Ducks and Geese mainly on the pea, wheat and barley fields over decoys. Our knowledge of local waterfowl habits and vast experience make us one of Alberta’s finest Waterfowl Outfitters. We are located in the Peace River Country in North Western Alberta. Grande Prairie Airport is the pick-up point, which is about 20 miles from our Outfitting operation. We have one half mile of lake-shore on a northern lake on which sits our Log-Lodge and our home, this is right in the middle of some of the best waterfowl country in North America.

The countryside is rich, rolling farmland, dotted with many lakes, sloughs and potholes. We are located in a primary staging area for geese and ducks at the beginning of their southern migration. The fall months of September and October are the peak times to hunt migrating Geese and Ducks in our area. The sky is alive with birds. Flock after flock of Northern Canada Geese and Ducks arrive to add to local waterfowl broods. Both Geese and Ducks fly out early each morning to feed in surrounding farm fields. Most are back to raft on the water by mid morning, and out in the fields again to feed in late afternoon.

We start our morning hunts early and like to be set-up well before sunrise. Taking along a field breakfast cooler keeps us hunting until late morning or bag limits. Around mid afternoon we are off to our afternoon hunt, either in the field or over water. We tend to go where the birds are! We return after dark to a delicious, home-cooked supper, showers and bed.

For more information about our waterfowl hunts or to book your hunt, please contact us. Join us for another successful hunting season.

These hunts take place in the farmland around Manning and due to the terrific location on a main travel route for migratory birds they are packed with fun from start to finish! Throw in great duck hunts and what more could a bird hunter ask for.

If waterfowl hunting and upland bird hunting is your passion, join us for an exciting bird hunt in the prairies of southern Alberta. We will be hunting Canada Goose, Mallard ducks and pintail ducks, in the heart of the Pacific and Central flyways. Here millions of migrating ducks and geese stage in the numerous lakes, ponds and reservoirs. This area is mostly farmland providing the ducks and geese with an abundant food source including endless fields of barley, wheat and peas. The many potholes, lakes and reservoirs provide great resting places for the local and migrating birds as they start their journey south.

Our waterfowl hunts take place from early September when the migration begins and continues through the end of the season in December. With liberal limits and the number of waterfowl migrating and nesting in our area, hunters will have excellent opportunities to limit out each day.

Mornings will find us set up with top quality decoys and blinds for an exciting shoot of ducks and geese. When the morning waterfowl shoot is over you will have the option of jumpshooting ducks or upland bird hunting in the afternoon. Thriving populations of Hungarian partridge, sharptail grouse and the occasional pheasant will provide the wingshooter with no shortage of action.

I live in the heart of our hunting area which allows me to do extensive scouting and get access to key hunting areas. I will be doing some of the guiding myself along with a few other competent guides. We pick guides that we know will deliver a quality experience to our clients.

We will provide you with a hunt of a lifetime that will create long lasting memories and make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

"Alberta’s finest in adventure tourism", we at Venture North Outfitting (VNO) invite you to enjoy a hunt of a lifetime. Located in the heart of western Canada’s central flyway, Venture North Outfitting offers 3- or 6-day hunts for a range of local and migrating waterfowl. During your visit, you will experience a variety of field or water shoots. We offer trophy quality, top-notch guides & high success rates. We will make your hunt enjoyable & successful. We specialize in creating personalized combination hunts in the Rocky Mountains, foothills and prairies of southern Alberta. We are proud of our reputation for excellent trophy quality, top notch guides and high success rates. We offer hunts for trophy mule deer, whitetails, moose, elk, awesome antelope, cougars (mountain lions), and bears. We have guaranteed licenses for all species, meaning no draws to enter.

Cougar hunting in Alberta takes place during the winter months of December, January and February. Although the average time to harvest a cougar on our hunts is 5-6 days, we like our hunters to allow for a 10 day hunt. We like to give ample time to ensure the greatest chance of success.

Mule Deer Hunts and Combo Whitetail/Mule Deer Hunts: Our prairie deer hunting is a three-day combination whitetail and mule deer hunt. Although there are good whitetails, these areas are best known for their trophy mule deer. Our mountain zone hunts begins in late September and continues through the end of November. The most productive time to hunt whitetails is the last week of October, when they increase their pre-rut activity. This is when we begin to hunt whitetail deer and mule deer together on our popular six-day combination hunt.

Our rifle elk hunts begin in September during the peak of the rut. We hunt on horseback and on foot, glassing and calling. This exciting hunt is in a limited entry area with a 6 point minimum (on one antler) rule, which ensures that mature trophy bulls are available.

Our rifle moose hunts begin in September during the peak of the rut. This hunt is conducted in the same area as our elk hunt and similar hunting methods are used. You can combine mule deer, whitetails or black bear with this hunt. Our moose are classified as Shiras moose by Safari Club International and as Canada moose by the Boone & Crockett Club. We have an excellent offer for bowhunters with an elk and moose combination hunt beginning in early in September, at the beginning of the elk rut.

6 day spring black bear hunts run from late April to early May. This is a spot and stalk hunt in an area with a high percentage of color phase bears. Fall black bear season runs from early September until they den, which is usually early November. This is a spot and stalk hunt.

Pronghorn antelope hunts have been very successful, with an average harvest size of 15". We offer a 5 day hunt to ensure ample time to see numerous trophy antelope.

Wingshooting: We offer wingshooting both as an option on big game hunts and as a stand alone activity.
Our bird hunts are 1 - 6 days in length. A wide array of opportunities are available for both waterfowl and upland birds. Our favorite is upland birds over a gun dog. Several species of grouse, plus pheasants and Gray (Hungarian) partridge are available.

Our waterfowl bird hunts take place in the heart of Alberta farmland taking in the Central Flyway.

We typically set up for geese on fields where they have been feeding. We will arrive well before sunrise to set up our spread of decoys and blinds. We will then get into position and await the arrival of our quarry. We will stay in position until mid-morning or if we have filled our limit we will head in for lunch. Early afternoon will find us heading out again to fill our daily quota of geese or if already full we will head to one of the many pothole lakes or marshes and set up for a shoot of the large ducks that we have coming through. These hunts will be set up in blinds or on boats depending on the location.

Whether it is the large Canadian Geese or the fast flying Mallards that will give any hunter a challenge, we have the hunt for you. You may also have a chance to harvest one or more speckle belly geese, snow geese or pintail ducks.

We use professional dogs for the retrieval of our birds on most of our hunts. Our goal is to provide you the hunter with your hunting adventure of a lifetime. We specialize in working with you to fulfill your hunting dream.

Do not hesitate to contact us, as I am confident that we can work together to make your hunting dream a reality.

We offer 1 day to 6 day goose and duck hunts in the Peace River Region of Alberta, which is known as the best waterfowl hunting destination in North America. Mallard ducks stage in the thousands and geese stop to fuel up for their long flight south.

We are located in McLennan and hunt the surrounding area. McLennan, the Bird Capital of Canada, has three major flyways that cross through the area and is located on Kimiwan Lake. During migration season Kimiwan Lake has recorded counts in excess of 26000 migratory birds per day staging off the lake.

A typical hunt day begins at 4:00 am with a light breakfast before we head out to the fields. It's not unusual to reach our morning limit by 10:30am. After our morning hunt we head back for good food and a little relaxation. If you'd like, we can arrange a ring-neck pheasant hunt during this time.

Our evening hunts are spent field hunting and pass shooting ducks and geese. After supper it's time to relax, watch the birds return to Kimiwan Lake, stretch your legs with a nature walk, watch satellite TV, read, or swap hunting stories.

If you want a solid effort and a well organized, well run hunt, then book your next waterfowl hunt with us. We are committed to a policy of 100% "fair chase" and stress principles and ethics above all else.
