Alberta Moose Hunting
Archery moose hunts start in late August prior to the rut. Moose bow hunts are conducted in the Eastern slopes region, where we hunt over natural mineral licks and water holes. The bull moose are starting to get ready for the rut and they are busy rubbing off velvet and beginning to look for cow moose that might be ready to breed. The moose in this zone average 35-45 inches, with a few exceeding the 50 inch mark, and our best being 53”. If you wish, this moose bow hunt may be combined with an archery black bear hunt.

Rifle and archery moose rut hunts take place from late September to mid October in the northern Boreal forest of Alberta. We utilize calling to get the moose in position for a shot, and this can be an exciting part of the hunt, indeed!! The bull moose is very aggressive at this time of year, and it is a sight to see when he comes in to the call!! We scout prior to the hunt to find out where the cows are, as this will increase your chances of seeing some real trophy bulls. The moose in this area average 35-45 inches, with a few exceeding the 50 inch mark. All hunts will include a wolf license, as we do see them regularly, and they are a great additional trophy.

All moose hunts are 6 full days of hunting with two hunters per guide. The hunts are conducted out of tent camps, utilizing wall tents. The moose rut hunt camps are more remote, so as to reduce time spent travelling to and from a main camp. Two hunters and one guide will usually be together from start to finish on a hunt, in a spike camp.
